Upper School Curriculum


100% of the students in the college preparatory program go onto college.

73% of the work/study students are working full-time.

68% of the work/study students attend community college or technical/trade school.

Two Options For Learning
Vanguard’s high school program provides two options for students: the college preparatory program and the work/study program.

In addition to rigorous academics, both programs provide regular social skills therapy groups, leisure education and strive to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills.  the development of positive interpersonal relationships is the focus of daily student life at Vanguard. 

 

College Preparatory
Designed to develop skills necessary for traditional college environments and focuses on:

· Reading/Literature

· Oral Expression

· Computer Science

· Foreign Language

· Expressive Writing

· Advanced Mathematics

· Science and Social Studies

· SAT Preparation

 

 

Work Study
Designed to develop vocational and independent living skills necessary for success in the community after high school and  focuses on:

· Aptitude/Interest Testing

· Practical Mathematics

· Career Exploration

· Reading

· Computer Science

· On-the-job Training

· Science and Social Studies

· Job Readiness Training

· Interview and Resume Writing
